About INRUMEC
Industrial Rubber & Mechanics Inc. (INRUMEC) was founded in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1963 by Fred and Edna von Hillebrandt as a distributor for Industrial Rubber Products including Industrial Hoses, Conveyor Belting, and related accessories. The “Mechanics” side of the business came with the inclusion of Mechanical Systems such as Conveyors and Components.
A History of Steady Growth
After years of continuous growth, INRUMEC moved into its current
Headquarter in Luchetti Industrial Park in Bayamon in 1985. In
order to improve service to customers in the southern part of
the island INRUMEC opened its first branch in Ponce in 1991. The
immediate success of this branch led to the opening of another
branch in 1995 in Mayaguez. Both branches were later converted
to Parker Stores specialized in offering Parker Fluid Connectors
and Parker Fluid Power Components.
In 1996 Fred von Hillebrandt decided to retire following a long
and successful career. After having worked for 10 years in
various positions within the company, his son, Thomas von
Hillebrandt became President.
In the year 2000 INRUMEC remodeled its Headquarter in Bayamon
expanding its warehouse and office space in order to meet the
ever-growing demand for its products and services. We also
incorporated a Parker Store within our facilities offering the
most complete inventory of hydraulic hoses and fittings, fluid
power components, factory trained professionals and a wide array
of services to our customers in the metropolitan area.
Industry Expertise
Realizing the tremendous opportunities in the pharmaceutical,
biotech and food industry, in January 2005 INRUMEC acquired the
Caguas operation of CPI Controls, a specialized distributor of
High Purity and Corrosion Resistant Pipe Valves and Fittings.
This location is now the driver of INRUMEC’s High Purity Fluid
Transfer Group.
In October 2005 INRUMEC acquired Packaging Automation
Corporation to add Packaging Machinery to its expanding Material
Handling product offering.
Now, INRUMEC is part of the Kaman Industrial Technologies
organization. Kaman’s acquisition of INRUMEC in 2008 greatly
increased the company’s ability to serve the Bearings and Power
Transmission needs of the islands many industrial consumers. The
integration of these two respected companies builds on the
capabilities of each, as well as their reputations for
innovative manufacturing solutions, product expertise and a
drive to help customers improve their profitability through
greater operational efficiency.
